Week 80 chemo complete: Goodbye summer

Week 80 chemo complete: Goodbye summer

On Friday it was the last nice day of Summer. I spent time at the beach, relaxing and reading as well as enjoying the company of friends. Saturday morning I woke up early to say goodbye to summer at the beach and to reflect on my life. Chemo treatment isn’t easy but I focus on staying positive and use photography to help me cope. I much prefer warmer weather as I worry about colds and infections during the fall and winter.

Can’t wait for summer to return.

To recap: On Sunday, August 21st, I completed Cycle 20 Week 4. I have Multiple Myeloma and anemia, a rare blood cancer. It is incurable, but treatable. From February to November 2013, I received Velcade chemo through weekly in-hospital injections as an outpatient. Since February 9th 2015, I have been on Pomalyst and dexamethasone chemo treatment (Pom/dex).

Weekly chemo-inspired self-portraits can be viewed in my flickr album.
