Thursday Afternoon, Enjoying National Planning Meeting. Cycle OK So Far!!

Monday night Madalize made dinner, homemade pot pie, so that is how we celebrated our actual anniversary. On Tuesday I went back to resume chemo and had consultation with Dr. Anderson, he has decided to make a few changes to my regimen. He wants to try for once a week infusions of Velcade and taking Cytoxan, but because my blood had been getting so ragged out, he still wants me to come in on Fridays, but just for bloodwork. That works for me.

Then he laid the bomb on me, he wants to try 40 mg of the Dexamethasone, on Tuesdays, when I had been doing 12 mg twice weekly. Quite and increase, and all on one day! So we discussed what the high dose does to me and my arsenal of ways to deal with it. He encouraged me to take the Marinol and said I could take up to 2 sleeping pills a night if I really need to. Its Thursday afternoon as I type this and so far, so good. I am actually down at the Sheraton Suites of Dallas with Greg for the National Planning Meeting. I have been getting around pretty good!

Tuesday afternoon I had called and made plans to pick Tonya up at the airport rather than having her take a shuttle, then called the Mahoneys and Lysters and set up dinner. We went to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse and it was quite pricey but a wonderful meal! I had the lobster bisque and crab legs with a filet. I gave most the steak away (to Greg) and thoroughly enjoyed the crab legs. It was hard not to have a glass of wine, but especially on an infusion and Cytoxan day its off limits! We had a great time and the waiter even brought out a comp’ed anniversary celebration dessert. Greg and I had separate cars and had to drive the 40 minutes home separately, but I was still going strong.

Wednesday I worked on packing and treatments and getting ready to go stay in a hotel until Saturday. I managed to get out to the garden for a little bit and transplanted some beet and cardinal climbing flower seedlings into two more of the squares. They are almost all filled up! Then with the Vue all packed I headed toward the Sheraton, knowing I would stop at Old Navy as I need a basic pair of black pants that fit NOW (Ok, a size 14) so I could be ‘business casual’ for this thing. Well I ended up getting a swim suit, flip flops, two cover-up skirts and some board shorts, a coordinating beach towel and two large cover-up tops. Apparently beach clothes for the cruise was more on my mind, I did not even FIND black pants! I wore jeans for the lunch today! Oh no!

Greg has a swollen eye and had a pretty back headache so he came in and crashed. I tried to take care of him, I went downstairs and got dinner and brought it back up, but he was sleeping. I watched the season finale of American Idol and played with my Outlook contacts, updating things, until about 9, then I woke him because he said he had work to do plus there was a reception at the Akerman’s which sounded fun. Well we blew off the reception and Greg ate and worked some and we got to bed at a decent hour, probably 11.

So far today I got up early and went to the Spouse Hospitality Room and met Susie, then we went to the Exhibits and Booths together. I ended up letting Susie do her thing, she knows a lot of people down there, and teamed up with Cindy Lyster until it was time to make it over toward the Southern Region Luncheon. I got to sit with Pearl and Norm Ginsberg, and Scott Sorrells and his wife Tina joined our table too. I had to cut out early to come do a treatment, it was running long anyway. I should try to get a little bit of a nap before we go out to dinner, we might be with a big group tonight.

I just went over the calendar Christen sent me (from Dr. Anderson’s office) and looked to see what my trip in home in July can look like, then fired back an email proposing a little shift to allow me a full week in Illinois. I might have to ahead and fly it instead of driving as I had dreamed of.
