My first blog post ever!

I have never done a blog before. I’m excited about this one. I hope I can learn from people who have been dealing with MM longer than I have. I was diagnosed in Nov. of 2013. I had just had a knee replacement & all the tests that were done before the surgery came back perfect. As far as anyone knew, I was healthy as the proverbial horse! Ha!Ha1 About five weeks after the knee surgery my blood pressure went sky high for no apparent reason. My PCP had some blood tests done & they came back that I was anemic & had hypercalcemia. After being admitted top the hospital & having every test & scan there is, I was told I had MM. What a shock-I was scared half to death. I went from going to the gym for therapy three times a week to being pushed around in a wheelchair. I did not realize you could get that sick that fast from something like MM. I was referred to an oncologist in York, ME & he sent me to Dana Farber in Boston. I was entered into a clinical trial. I took Revlimid, Velcade & dex for 6 cycles of 3 weeks on & 1 week off. I then had 3 months off & started the prep for a SCT. I had that in June of 2014 & it went very well. I was very sick but my numbers improved so quickly that I was sent home a week early. From there things just got better & I achieved CR for about 2 years.,  Last March when I went back to Dana Farber for my 6 month check the Dr. said as far as the results he had back then I was still in CR. Four days later I got a call saying I had a fairly significant M spike. That was like a slap in the face. Scared half to death again. I am now on Pomalyst, Ninlaro & dex. Too early to know if it is working. Started at 4 mg had to go down to 3 mg because my platelets got so low I had to wait 3 weeks for them to come back up enough to start again. I am pretty discouraged right now. Has anyone else had an experience like this? If so, how did it turn out for you?  I feel really good most of the time. Looking forward to hearing from other people who are going through the same stuff as I am. Well I have to go get supper started-life does go on-thank God!
