We have finalized many of the details of Dad’s memorial and are now in a position that we can share the plan.
The memorial will begin at 2pm on Sunday at Settegast-Kopf Funeral home (15015 Southwest Freeway) with a reception, where there will be coffee and snacks. Instead of a wake or viewing, we have chosen to have a memorial table filled with things that remind us of Dad. Please feel free to pick up and browse through the items on the table. We have decided not to have people stand up and talk during the actual service. So during this hour, friends and family will be able to contribute to Dad’s voice quilt – a collection of stories, memorials and fun times about Dad from the people who knew him best.
Leaving a message on a VoiceQuilt is easy – just follow these steps:
- Call 1-877-687-7845 (see http://voicequilt.com/overseas if calling from outside the US)
- When asked for your invitation number, enter 192391
- Record your message, just as if you were leaving a voicemail
- Press # to review your message – or just hang up to save it
The voice quilt is open as of now (you can start leaving messages now) and will continue to be open until February 23rd (in case you remember something later you would like to share).
The service will follow the reception, starting at 3pm, and will be a celebration of Dad’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to a College Savings plan established for Bob’s foster daughter, Anna Ruiz. Please make checks payable as follows: Scholar’s Edge 529 FBO Anna Ruiz and send to the attention of Cara Gourley at 8 West Point, Missouri City, Texas 77549.
Anna has been a special part of our lives for over 8 years. Dad always said that he believed having an impact on Anna’s life was his charity and we would like to help him continue that legacy.
Thank you.
