The music was loud and raucous, a base beat thumping like a heart stuck in hyper-arythmia. The stage set shown on the television was ablaze with primary colors, red, blue, yellow. It just shrieked brightness. Some small and pudgy man was running back and forth, yelling to the studio audience, whipping their excitement to a frenzy that had them screaming and applauding.”Welcome! Welcome! Welcome to the show!” he screeched. The audience grew more deafening. The host was introducing his guests, people I didn’t recognize nor ever heard of. As he did, the audience shrieked with glee at every handshake and air kiss.
