10.30 and we have started harvesting.

Well I have had the valcath put in and it was all very interesting. It was inserted in day surgery and I had three lovely nurses looking after me. One lady gowned up and I had to lay on a bed with one leg other the side whilst she inserted the tube. They had an ultra sound machine so she could clearly see where she was going. I was given a local anaesthetic so it was all pretty pain free.

So here I am now plugged into the machine which takes all my blood out washes it and separates it out into red cells, white cells and plasma. It then returns all the blood I need back into my body. Clever stuff really.
